John J. Borer III – Head of Investment Banking, Senior Managing Director
Mr. Borer was a Senior Managing Director, Head of Investment Banking and a member of the Board of Rodman& Renshaw, which he joined in 1991. From 1984 to 1991, Mr. Borer was Senior VP and Investment Manager in the new business development office of Security Pacific Business Credit. From 1979 to 1984, he served as a VP and business development officer with Barclays American Business Credit in its LA office. Mr. Borer served on the SEC Advisory Committee on Small and Emerging Companies. Mr. Borer received his B.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of California at Davis in 1978 and his J.D. from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles in 1984.
Michael S. Jacobs – Managing Director, Head of Equity Capital Markets
Mr. Jacobs was Head of Equity Capital Markets at Axiom Capital Management from late 2013 to September 2017 prior to joining Benchmark. During his tenure at Axiom, Mr. Jacobs dramatically expanded Axiom’s role as Lead Manager, Co-Manager and Selling Group Member. Mr. Jacobs has 30 years of experience as an investment banker, financial services industry executive and entrepreneur. Mr. Jacobs was Co-Founder and President of Capital Growth Financial, LLC which he transformed from a start-up to a “big firm in a little box” with approximately 100 employees and $23 million in annual revenues. Mr. Jacobs capitalized on his structuring and financing skills as Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer of an on-line European financial content provider which achieved a market capitalization of $800 million (“GLBN-NMS”). Mr. Jacobs has held a number of investment banking positions at New York based middle market investment banks and holds an MBA from the Stern School of Business and a BBA degree from Emory University.
Brad Carlsson – Managing Director, Investment Banking
Prior to joining Benchmark, Mr. Carlsson was Managing Director at Rodman& Renshaw (2005-2012). Mr. Carlsson joined Rodman as a generalist banker and part of Rodman’s successful strategy to expand beyond its initial healthcare focus. Mr. Carlsson has extensive background working with international companies and a background as a generalist who has worked with resource and technology companies. Mr. Carlsson has over 12 years of investment banking experience including with Deutsche Bank (Australia) and in boutique firms with experience in underwritten transactions, private placements, M&A and project financing. Mr. Carlsson holds a Bachelors degree with a focus on Finance and Economics from Victoria University (New Zealand) and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Jamil Aboumeri – Managing Director, Investment Banking
Prior to joining Benchmark, Mr. Aboumeri was a Director at Rodman& Renshaw (2006-2012). Mr. Aboumeri has 15 years of investment banking and advisory experience in the US and internationally. While at Rodman, Mr. Aboumeri was a generalist senior banker and worked on over $2.0 billion in private placements, underwritten offerings and advisory transactions, with responsibilities including deal origination, valuation, due diligence, structuring, and execution. Prior to Rodman, Mr. Aboumeri was a Managing Director and Senior VP at Thomson Financial where he spent 9 years in corporate advisory roles in NYC and London. Mr. Aboumeri earned a Master of Science degree in Finance and MBA degree from the University of Rochester in New York.
Robert L. Brisotti– Managing Director, Investment Banking
Mr. Brisotti has over 25 years of experience in investment banking, specializing in public and private offerings for small cap companies, with a particular expertise in convertible debt and convertible preferred securities. Mr. Brisotti’s strong background in the chemical industry has formed the basis for his expertise in structuring financing for manufacturing, energy, and mining companies. Mr. Brisotti received a B.S. in Chemistry from Lehigh University, an M.S. in Chemistry from the University of Rhode Island, and an MBA in Finance from Columbia University.
David Lachtman– Managing Director, Investment Banking
Mr. Lachtman is an Investment Banker based in the firm's San Francisco office. He is a generalist and has a passion for working with emerging growth companies in technology, healthcare, consumer products, and business services. Prior to joining Benchmark, Mr. Lachtman was Managing Director, Head of Equity Placements at Merriman Capital, Inc. (2010-2015). Mr. Lachtman has significant experience as an entrepreneur, advisor, and board member in addition to the capital markets. Over the last twenty years, he has assisted dozens of companies in raising both debt and equity. As an entrepreneur, Mr. Lachtman played an instrumental role in the turnaround of Express Auto Funding, where he was President and continues to serve as a Board Member. Prior to joining Express Auto Funding, Mr. Lachtman was EVP at Validus Technology Corporation. Mr. Lachtman spent the formative years of his career as Vice President in the Institutional Equity Sales group at Dain Rauscher Wessels/RBC Capital Markets and was based in the firm's San Francisco office. He began his career as an associate in the Institutional Equity Sales department with Van Kasper& Company in San Francisco. Mr. Lachtman earned his B.A. in International Trade& Economic Relations from UC Berkeley.
David Cohen - Managing Director, Investment Banking
Prior to joining Benchmark, Mr. Cohen, was the CEO and Director of Carolco Pictures, Inc. from 2016 to 2017, where he was responsible for strategically restructuring the company and overseeing day–to-day operations. Prior to joining Carolco Pictures, Inc., Mr. Cohen was Director of Investment Banking at Newbridge Securities Corporation from January 2015 to January 2016, and was Director of Investment Banking at National Securities Corporation from June 2013 to December 2014, where he led the underwriting efforts for a myriad of NASDAQ and NYSE listed public companies. As an entrepreneur, Mr. Cohen founded a private equity firm in 2011 and previously built and was CEO of a publicly traded company beginning in 2005. Mr. Cohen has 21 years of expertise in the securities markets includes all facets of public company management, corporate finance, and corporate consulting for publicly-traded companies. As an Investment Banker, Mr. Cohen has, and continues to specialize in the small-cap and lower -middle market sectors, arranging financings in the public and private equity markets for emerging companies in a variety of industries. Mr. Cohen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pace University in New York City.
